It’s Back to School Again!

The summer has flown by once again. All too soon the warm summer sun will start to fade and minute by minute the days will grow steadily shorter. For most kids, it’s the worst time of year; when they have to trade in their adventures, summer trips, and days with friends for teachers, books, and homework. For most parent’s it’s a time to rejoice.

Kindergarten through 9th graders in the School District of Lancaster head back on Monday, August 24th while students in grades 10-12 start back the next day, on Tuesday August 25th.

As the Back to School effect takes over our families, we thought it might be nice to share with you some of the upcoming back to school events and sales in the Lancaster area. We hope you’ll find these useful as you and your little ones, or not-so-little ones, prepare for another school year!

Tanger Factory Outlets

Back to school means new clothes! This season Tanger outlets is offering a ton of great deals and back to school savings. If you visit the Tanger website, you can even score some 20% off coupons to your favorite stores. Tanger, in partnership with Eddie Bauer and Timberland, will also be sponsoring a free backpack giveaway. Two winners will be randomly selected from the pool and will receive a new backpack filled with school supplies, plus a $100 Tanger gift card! School District of Lancaster

As the summer winds down, the Lancaster public school district offers several activities and events to help kids get back into the swing of school and socialize with their classmates. Events range from open houses, orientations, a back to school picnic, ice cream social, and more. Check out the School District of Lancaster’s calendar or contact your kid’s local school to learn more.

Youth Week

Youth week is not a back to school event in and of itself, but it does offer local kids the opportunity to take part in a week’s worth of activities and events at a reduced cost or even for free. Participants can enjoy laser tag, bowling, and roller skating, amongst other activities. The event kicks off on Sunday, August 9th at Binns Park, when those who have registered can pick up a bag which will contain what they need to participate in the fun (wristbands, etc.). More and more, kids are expected to have an internet connection to be able to do their homework. But, internet can be expensive and, for some families, it’s unaffordable. That’s why Comcast offers its Internet Essentials program to low-income households with school aged children.
